Ripple, Cardano, and A16Z Push Forward U.S. Crypto Legislation

18-Sep-2025

At a recent closed-door session in Washington, executives from leading blockchain firms sat down with Senate staffers to refine the CLARITY Act – a bill aimed at giving the crypto market a single set of rules after years of uncertainty.

The gathering drew a wide roster: Ripple, Cardano, Coinbase, Kraken, Circle, Paradigm, Multicoin Capital, and Andreessen Horowitz (A16Z) all had seats at the table. Former FOX Business reporter Eleanor Terrett, who first broke details of the meeting, said the talks stretched beyond an hour and concentrated on draft language covering exchanges, issuers, and investor protections.

Charles Hoskinson, who attended on behalf of Cardano, called the roundtable a step forward and praised both Ripple and A16Z for their strong engagement. He told followers that bipartisan progress on the legislation is “within reach,” even if technical details still need hammering out.

Ripple’s presence carried symbolic weight, coming after its long regulatory fight with the SEC over XRP. For A16Z, which has poured billions into Web3 startups, the meeting was a chance to press for policies that keep the U.S. competitive globally.

The session also took place against the backdrop of the Anti-CBDC bill being folded into the CLARITY Act – a move that suggests lawmakers are consolidating various crypto reforms into one legislative vehicle.

Although no final text has been released, the message from Washington is clear: the crypto industry is now a direct participant in shaping rules that could be finalized before the end of the year.
