BlockBolt has launched a new contactless crypto payments option using Hedera’s DLT, connecting the HBAR network to in-person, contactless payments.
Designed for online and in-person commerce, BlockBolt Soundbox allows merchants to accept HBAR, USDC, and other Hedera-based tokens with speed and reliability expected from the network.
The launch is supported by a grant from the Hedera Foundation, showing Hedera Hashgraph’s focus on merchant-ready use cases in the real-world.
BlockBolt’s solution includes a web-based checkout and multiple payment options with payment links, wallet-based checkouts, QR Scan & Pay, and more.

All transactions will be verified on-chain and settle within seconds, leveraging Hedera’s throughput and low fees. The partnership makes the platform suitable for everyday payments and crypto swaps on the fly.
A major standout feature of the launch is the BlockBolt SoundBox, listed as a plug-and-play IoT (Internet of Things) device built for physical retail environments.
Once a customer completes a payment, SoundBox will instantly announce the received amount with an audio confirmation. The IoT device aims to remove the need for staff to manually check wallets or dashboards, making a streamlined checkout flow.
Blockchain transactions are tuned into real-time audio with SoundBox, aiming to address a hurdle for in-person crypto payments by telling customers that their transactions are working and moving in-realtime, without users having to check their web3 wallets to see confirmations.

BlockBolt’s launch highlights Hedera’s growing role as an infrastructure layer for real-world payments.
The combination of fast finality, low fees, and strong reliability enables practical adoption from merchants at a large scale.
As more payment-focused applications are deployed on Hedera, network usage, developer activity, and token utilities are likely to increase throughout 2026, reinforcing Hedera’s position as a network for real-world applications.
