Bitcoin Holds No Clear Advantage Against XRP

Critics argue the practice could weigh on XRP’s price, but pro-Ripple attorney Bill Morgan says the link is unfounded.

Morgan pointed out that Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has consistently framed escrow as a market stability tool, ensuring supply predictability rather than causing price drops.

He also noted that even the SEC, during its case against Ripple, described escrow as a mechanism aimed at supporting XRP’s value.

Responding to claims that XRP’s pre-mined nature is a drawback, Morgan countered that a fixed supply is equally touted by Bitcoin advocates as a hallmark of “hard money.”

While Bitcoin supporters highlight mining costs and the absence of a central issuer, Morgan argues these factors don’t give BTC a decisive advantage.

After examining key attributes of hard money – including scarcity, divisibility, and resistance to manipulation – Morgan concluded that Bitcoin holds no overall superiority over XRP. In his view, XRP’s broader utility could make it more attractive for real-world use cases.

The lawyer also believes the lawsuit’s resolution could spur corporate treasuries to accumulate XRP, with the token trading at $3.22 and analysts watching for a push toward fresh all-time highs.
