Cryptocurrency exchange Bitget introduced the industry’s first traditional finance Quanto Perpetual Futures. This new derivative market structure enables the trading of non-USD-denominated stocks using USDT without any currency conversion. The inaugural contract, MINIMAXHKDUSDT, tracks Hong Kong-listed artificial intelligence company MiniMax and is now live with leverage of up to 20x exclusively on Bitget.
The contract prices the underlying stock in its local currency, such as Hong Kong dollars for Hong Kong equities or Japanese yen for Japanese equities. However, margin, funding fees, and realized profit and loss are settled entirely in USDT. The system treats the local-currency price as numerically equivalent to USDT at a one-to-one ratio, ensuring the contract’s price movement matches the underlying stock precisely without any fiat currency involvement.
“Quanto contracts are not new in crypto derivatives, but no major exchange has applied the structure to traditional financial assets until now,” said Gracy Chen, Chief Executive Officer at Bitget in a written statement. “From Pre-IPO access to US stock options, we are building a trading environment where crypto infrastructure serves global financial markets. The Quanto contracts remove the last barrier for global traders: currency conversion. Anyone holding USDT can now trade Hong Kong and other non-USD stocks as easily as they trade Bitcoin. This is convergence in practice which Bitget has been able to crack,” she added.
The product addresses a specific operational challenge. A user seeking to purchase Hong Kong stocks in Hong Kong dollars typically must convert USDT to Hong Kong dollars first, thereby assuming exchange rate risk on both the position and the conversion itself. Bitget’s quanto structure eliminates this step. A trader opening a long position of ten MINIMAXHKDUSDT contracts at thirty and closing at fifty earns two hundred USDT, calculated as fifty minus thirty multiplied by ten, with settlement directed straight to the futures account. No foreign exchange conversion occurs at any stage.
The launch arrives in a market experiencing rapid expansion. TokenInsight’s Crypto Exchange Report Q2 2026 determined that traditional finance perpetuals were the fastest-growing segment across the crypto exchange industry during the quarter. Monthly volume expanded from approximately $52 billion in January to $268 billion in June, representing a fivefold increase over the first half of the year. Equity perpetuals overtook commodities as the primary growth driver. Bitget ranked among the fastest-growing platforms in the sector, generating approximately $69 billion in traditional finance perpetual volume during the second quarter and capturing 11.01% market share to place second among all exchanges.
The quanto launch follows a year of product innovations that have established traditional finance as a core component of Bitget’s operations rather than a peripheral feature. The exchange introduced tokenized stock perpetual contracts providing synthetic exposure to publicly traded companies with USDT settlement and leverage of up to 100x. It subsequently added contract-for-difference trading in late 2025 for access to global equities, commodities, and foreign exchange through stablecoin settlement. In April 2026, Bitget launched IPO Prime, the industry’s first Pre-IPO trading service powered by Republic, offering users exposure to private companies such as SpaceX before public listing. In July, Bitget became the only major crypto exchange to offer US stock options, providing long call and long put strategies on US-listed equities alongside crypto and contract-for-difference markets.
The MINIMAXHKD Quanto Perpetual Contracts are now live on Bitget and support leverage of up to 20x, twenty-four-hour trading, and funding rate settlement every eight hours.
