Introducing Dual Investments on Kraken Pro: fixed yield, with a market view

Dual Investments are a new way to earn yield on Kraken by combining a fixed return with a simple market view on BTC or ETH.

At a high level, Dual Investments are a time-bound, fully collateralized product. You subscribe for a set term at a fixed yield that is quoted upfront and Kraken locks your funds until maturity.

The one variable is how you’re paid back at expiry: depending on where the market price finishes relative to your chosen target price, your payout will settle in either USD or BTC/ETH.

How it works (in plain English)

When you open Dual Investments, you’ll choose:

• The asset you want to invest (BTC, ETH, or USD)
  
• A maturity date (Dual Investments settle weekly or biweekly, on Fridays)
  
• A target price

Before you confirm, you’ll see the fixed APR and clear payoff scenarios (i.e., what you receive if the market ends above or below the target). Settlement happens automatically at maturity.

Two strategies: “Sell High” or “Buy Low”

Dual Investments support two intuitive approaches depending on what you hold today (and what you’d be comfortable holding after settlement).

1) Invest BTC or ETH: “Sell High”

If you already hold BTC or ETH and would be happy to sell at a higher level, you can deposit your crypto and choose a target price above the current market.

• If BTC/ETH finishes at or above your target price at maturity, you receive your principal plus yield in USD (effectively selling at the target level).
  
• If it finishes below the target price, you receive your principal plus yield in BTC/ETH (you keep your crypto and earn yield).
  

2) Invest USD: “Buy Low”

If you hold USD and want a structured way to potentially accumulate crypto at a lower price, you can deposit USD and choose a target price below the current market.

• If BTC/ETH finishes at or below your target price at maturity, you receive your principal plus yield in BTC/ETH (effectively buying at the target level).
  
• If it finishes above the target price, you receive your principal plus yield in USD (you keep USD and still earn yield).

Availability is jurisdiction-dependent. Dual Investments are launching for Rest-of-World markets (not available in all geos) with more geos planned in the future.
