Gate Update: Platform Ranks Top 3 In RWA Perpetual Trading As Stock Futures Log Third Consecutive Month Of Triple-Digit Growth

Gate enters the second week of September with a cluster of milestones that collectively signal a platform operating at a different scale. CoinDesk’s August 2026 Exchange Review places Gate third globally in RWA perpetual trading, following a 158% month-over-month surge in volume to $64.7 billion and a market share jump from 5.32% to 12.6%. Overall, Gate ranked fourth by combined spot and derivatives trading volume at roughly $327 billion, with a global user base now exceeding 60 million.

Gate’s own August Transparency Report fills in the operational detail: stock perpetual trading volume grew 308% month over month for the third consecutive month of triple-digit growth; RWA perpetual open interest market share reached 49.6%, ranking first among global CEXs; 30-day net inflows hit $308.1 million, placing Gate second among major platforms; and total reserves stood at $8.215 billion with an overall reserve ratio of 127%. The compliance picture advanced in parallel: Gate Futures LLC is now registered with the CFTC as an Independent Introducing Broker and is a member of the National Futures Association. Underpinning the institutional push, Gate US announced that Gravity Team — a liquidity provider with over $500 billion in cumulative spot trading volume across 40-plus exchanges — has joined the platform as an institutional client, contributing two-sided liquidity across supported markets.

The week’s broader news rounds out a platform expanding on multiple fronts simultaneously.

TradFi and Equities

Gate’s TradFi infrastructure continued to extend its lead. The platform now offers 1,004 TradFi assets — ranking first globally — and its stock futures segment recorded approximately $1.092 billion in 24-hour trading volume. In a LinkedIn post, Gate’s Head of Market Development, Equities Lucas Sum outlined the underlying rationale: as investment infrastructure becomes more digital, the key differentiator shifts to how effectively a platform reduces friction across the investment lifecycle — from account funding to position management — with fractional trading cited as a concrete example. Gate currently covers more than 12,800 stocks and ETFs across four markets (U.S., Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan), with fractional trading available from 0.01 shares.

New additions to the stock futures lineup include BHP Group Limited, Rio Tinto, Vale, Hyperliquid Strategies (PURR), and SoftBank, supporting 1–20x leverage and bringing total stock futures coverage to 401 instruments. Options activity also strengthened in August: total options volume rose 36.64% MoM and premium trading volume surged 192.83%; U.S. stock options are now live, initially covering nine equities including NVIDIA, Tesla, and Apple. On the tokenized securities side, multiple gStocks assets moved higher — the 2x Long MRVL Daily ETF (MVLLG) led with an 8.47% gain, Meta rose 5.13%, and the Daily MU Bull 2X Shares added 4.28%. A new Apple New Product Rewards campaign (running through September 24) ties prize draw entries to stock trading volume, with top prizes including the iPhone 18 Pro Max and iPhone Duo. The sixth episode of Gate Talk featured KOL Qianshui Observer discussing multi-asset allocation strategy — comparing the maturity of U.S. equities markets against the innovation-driven upside of crypto — a conversation that maps directly onto Gate’s cross-market positioning.

On-chain Trading and Derivatives

Gate’s Trenches section is hosting a Robinhood Chain Trading Competition through September 20, with a 100,000 USDT prize pool distributed across five reward tracks tied to trading volume, referrals, and daily check-ins. The Futures Robinhood Section separately added FLYBRAIN, FRONG, and JUGGERNAUT perpetual contracts, along with trading bot and copy trading support. STONK ranked first among CEXs by 24-hour futures trading volume and second across all platforms by open interest, per CoinGlass data.

Platform-wide, Gate’s open interest reached $12.068 billion, placing it third globally per DefiLlama. On-chain data recorded approximately $20.85 million in BTC (around 267 BTC) transferred into a Gate address. In metals, gold (XAUT) moved back above $4,400, with Gate’s XAUT perpetual open interest at $124.97 million, ranking second industry-wide. Gate Institutional’s weekly macro update noted that stronger-than-expected U.S. nonfarm payroll data raised September rate-hike expectations, pressing risk assets; BTC gained approximately 2.26% for the week despite briefly retreating from above 82,000 USDT, while Gate TradFi weekly trading volume reached approximately $120 billion, with capital rotating notably back into U.S. equities and ETFs.

Earn and Wealth Management

Two notable yield product developments emerged from the Transparency Report: GUSD funds reached a record high of $257 million on August 15, and Gate officially launched Idle Earn, which allows eligible stablecoins held in Spot and Futures accounts to automatically accrue interest at up to 3% APR — requiring no subscription, lock-up, or manual collection. A Gate Research report assessed the platform’s broader wealth management matrix, noting that its 7–30 day USDT VIP Fixed-Term products offer 3.8–4% annualized yields with capacity at the tens-of-millions-of-USDT level, and highlighting that Gate’s displayed yields more closely reflect the weighted returns users actually receive compared with some competing platforms. On the Launchpool side, three campaigns ran concurrently: MarsCat (MCAT), the 375th project, surpassed a $1 million reward pool, with GT and MCAT staking pools offering estimated APRs of 174.53% and 7,522.57%, respectively, alongside the active CP and ALIGN pools.

Event Market

Gate’s prediction market business accelerated sharply in August, with event contracts trading volume up 286% MoM and active trading users rising 473%, per the Transparency Report. Product updates included P&L curves and calendars, Polymarket leaderboard tier badges, and dedicated pages for esports and the Big Five football leagues. Event Points Season 4 is currently underway, with a total prize pool of 17,689 USDT and the top-ranked participant estimated to receive over 5,300 USDT; Chelsea vs. Hull City and Liverpool vs. Fulham (September 12) are live on the market, with Chelsea holding an 80% support rate. The Event Market Trading Rewards Campaign runs through September 22. Separately, Futures Points Airdrop Phase 140 launched on September 11, allowing users to redeem Futures Points for 100 USDT position vouchers or 0.04 AAPL shares via a decreasing-threshold mechanism that rewards higher point holders with earlier access.
