BitMart Users Regain Log In Access, But Withdrawal Issues Continue

12-Aug-2026 Null TX

Getting locked out of your own BitMart account is bad. Getting let back in only to watch your withdrawal get rejected on the spot is somehow worse.

That's the exact sequence users described over the past 48 hours, and it's landed the exchange in the middle of a very public insolvency accusation it hasn't fully answered yet.

I've read through a lot of exchange wind-down stories over the years, and this one has a familiar shape to it, access restored, withdrawals stuck, founder statements heavy on reassurance and light on hard numbers. Whether that pattern means something serious or just reflects a genuinely messy shutdown is the question everyone with funds on the platform is now trying to answer.

Login Access Restored But Withdrawals Still Frozen

According to a firsthand account posted on X, users who found themselves completely locked out of their BitMart accounts are now able to log back in, following what was described as BitMart effectively disabling account access for a period the previous day. That's the good news, and it's a small one. The bad news, laid out in the same post from @IWSXTR, is that withdrawals remain unresolved, the user says they tested a withdrawal attempt personally and it was instantly rejected, exactly as it had been before.

That detail matters because it lines up with a pattern several other users and projects have separately reported.

Opengradient Co-Founder Alleges Bitmart Is Insolvent

The story escalated significantly when Matthew, co-founder of decentralized AI network OpenGradient, went public with a much sharper claim. Posting under the handle @0xDeltaHedged, he said his market-making team's balances are stuck on BitMart because the exchange is insolvent, and separately noted it was "insane" that BitMart had been asking token holders to lock tokens on the exchange just one week before announcing the shutdown, characterizing it as nothing more than a play for liquidity.

His comments were amplified further by crypto commentary accounts, including a post from Crypto Banter summarizing the allegation for a wider audience.

It's worth being precise about what this actually is: a serious accusation from someone with funds on the line, not an independently confirmed finding.

What Bitmart Has Actually Confirmed About The Shutdown

To be fair to BitMart, the wind-down itself isn't a secret or a surprise development, it's been publicly scheduled for weeks. According to BitMart's own official notice, the exchange began suspending new user registrations and all deposit services on July 26, 2026, at 01:30 UTC. All spot, futures, and other trading services are scheduled to be fully discontinued by August 26, 2026, at 01:00 UTC, with full platform operations set to cease entirely on January 31, 2027.

BitMart Users Regain Log In Access, But Withdrawal Issues Continue

Crucially, BitMart's official notice states plainly that withdrawal services will remain available throughout this process, though it also warns that certain requests may be subject to additional review covering identity verification, source-of-funds checks, wallet-ownership confirmation, and sanctions screening. That last part is important context for the rejected withdrawals users are reporting: BitMart has never claimed withdrawals would be instant or unconditional during the wind-down, only that they'd remain technically available. The company has not, however, directly addressed Matthew's specific insolvency allegation or the OpenGradient team's frozen balances.

Bitmart's Founder Breaks His Silence On The Rumors

As pressure built, BitMart founder Sheldon Xia stepped in personally to address the growing rumors, and his statement, posted to X, was pointed in tone. He opened by insisting the company has "not disappeared, nor will we," pushing back directly against the narrative building around the exchange's silence.

Xia went further, warning users specifically about the flood of unverified claims circulating online, including alleged internal disclosures and screenshots supposedly leaked by current or former employees, urging people not to trust that material without confirmation. He said the company's core team is still actively working through an inventory and consolidation of assets alongside system maintenance, with the explicit goal of keeping the wind-down orderly, and asked users to wait for official announcements rather than reacting to speculation.

Most notably, Xia directly denied any wrongdoing on BitMart's part, stating the company has not misappropriated any assets, nor taken steps to withdraw funds early or evade its responsibilities to users. He added that BitMart is considering involving the courts and independent third-party auditors to produce a transparent report, a step that, if it actually happens, would go a long way toward settling the insolvency question one way or the other.

Where Things Stand For Bitmart Users Right Now

So where does that leave the roughly however-many users still sitting on frozen balances? Somewhere uncomfortably in between. Account access being restored is a genuine positive sign, a fully insolvent, collapsing exchange typically doesn't bother fixing login issues for users it can't pay back anyway. But instantly rejected withdrawals, an unanswered allegation from a market-making firm with funds on the line, and a founder statement built more on reassurance than hard financial disclosure isn't exactly a picture of stability either.

If there's a lesson in watching this unfold in real time, it's that "orderly wind-down" and "smooth experience for users" aren't automatically the same thing. BitMart has a real deadline coming on August 26 when trading stops entirely, and users still holding funds on the platform have every reason to keep pushing for withdrawals now rather than waiting to see how this resolves. Whether Xia's promised third-party audit actually materializes, and what it finds if it does, will likely determine whether this becomes just another messy exchange closure or something considerably worse.
