Some long-time node runners are logging into the new Rewards Checker and seeing payouts as small as a few dollars. If you ran the app for months to earn a piece of the network's bandwidth-sharing rewards, that gap between expectation and payout is exactly why this update matters to you.
Here's what's actually driving the USDC switch, and why the July 7 call could shape how Season 2 works out for everyone still holding on.
Grass Foundation, the team behind the bandwidth-sharing DePIN network, has switched on its Grass airdrop checker for Stage 2 of its rewards program. The tool sits inside the Allocation tab of the Dashboard and shows users their estimated payout for Epochs 1 through 19 — the stretch between October 14, 2024, and June 8, 2026.

Unlike earlier distributions, this round of rewards Stage 2 will not pay out in the native GRASS token. It is issuing rewards in USDC instead, citing ongoing regulatory uncertainty and a desire to let users in more jurisdictions claim without added friction.
Separately, the Foundation has scheduled a Grass token holders call for Tuesday, July 7 at 1:00 PM EST, streamed live on X and YouTube. The public webinar will cover the project's roadmap, financials, prior-year results, and network updates — and organizers are taking submitted questions ahead of time through the registration page.
For active participants, this is the difference between planning around a volatile token and locking in a stablecoin amount. Paying in USDC removes exposure to GRASS price swings between the claim date and when a user actually cashes out — but it also means node runners aren't getting direct token exposure to any future upside.
The timing also lands right before Grass airdrop season 2 claim date, reportedly around 170 million tokens planned for the second half of 2026. How Stage 2 is received could shape expectations heading into that larger distribution.
Community reaction so far has been mixed to negative. Multiple users report running nodes for a year or more across several devices and still receiving payouts in the single-digit-dollar range, prompting complaints, app uninstalls, and accusations of undervaluing long-term contributors — even as points to a user base above 8.5 million.

As for a firm Grass listing date or a confirmed Grass airdrop price. It has not published either figure alongside this Stage 2 update — worth watching as Season 2 approaches.
The Participation call on July 7 is the next real signal point. Expect questions from frustrated node runners about payout sizing, and possibly more color on how the ~170 million token Season 2 pool will be calculated differently from Stage 2.
Also worth tracking: whether the USDC-payout structure becomes the permanent model for future distributions, or whether it reverts to native token rewards once regulatory clarity improves.
It has repeated a standing security warning throughout this rollout: it will never DM users first, never ask for a seed phrase or private keys, and the only place to check rewards is app.grass.io/dashboard.
Grass airdrop Rewards Checker is live, but the shift to USDC payouts and reports of small payouts have left part of the community unimpressed. The July 7 call is the next moment where the project can address that frustration directly — and where early hints about Season 2's much larger token pool may surface.
