Nebius disclosed an average power usage effectiveness ratio of 1.25 throughout its 2025 data center operations. This figure stands well below the worldwide industry benchmark of 1.54 referenced by the firm. Lower PUE values indicate that greater portions of consumed electricity power actual computing workloads rather than ancillary systems like cooling and lighting.

The organization stated that its integrated approach to server architecture, rack configuration, cooling mechanisms, and cloud infrastructure prevented the consumption of 102 gigawatt-hours of electricity in 2025. Nebius calculated this savings as equivalent to powering approximately 9,800 typical U.S. homes for one year. By engineering its facilities as unified systems, the company maximizes productive computing output per unit of energy consumed.

While Nebius anticipates increased total power consumption as it builds multiple gigawatts of computing infrastructure, its engineering methodology focuses on minimizing operational inefficiencies. This framework enables capacity expansion while controlling incremental energy requirements per computing unit.

Advanced Cooling Technologies Minimize Water Consumption

The company also disclosed minimal water usage at a proprietary facility utilizing closed-loop liquid cooling technology. This location achieved water usage efficiency of just 0.018 liters per kilowatt-hour by year-end 2025. For context, Nebius referenced projected U.S. data center averages ranging from 0.45 to 0.49 liters per kilowatt-hour.

Utilizing current engineering specifications, Nebius projects that each gigawatt of developed capacity could eliminate the need for 3.3 billion liters of water intake. This quantity translates to roughly 900 million U.S. gallons or the equivalent of approximately 1,300 Olympic-sized swimming pools. The firm intends to implement comparable air-based and liquid cooling architectures at future installations.

Additionally, Nebius captured waste heat from its Mäntsälä, Finland facility throughout the reporting period. This system delivered 19.5 gigawatt-hours of thermal energy to the municipal district heating infrastructure in 2025. Company analysis suggests this contribution lowered heating expenses for connected residents by approximately 10%.

Green Energy Adoption and Local Community Programs

Nebius obtained 100% of its electricity from renewable resources across its Iceland, France, and United Kingdom operations during 2025. The company also transitioned its Finnish facilities from 95% low-carbon electricity to completely renewable power sources. Simultaneously, Nebius continues exploring reduced-emission energy alternatives for its U.S.-based data centers.

One initiative involves behind-the-meter fuel cell technology provided through a collaboration with Bloom Energy. The company also engages utility providers during site evaluation phases and throughout facility development. This coordination ensures new computing centers align with existing power infrastructure and meet local regulatory standards.

Beyond energy initiatives, Nebius projects its U.S. expansion will generate both construction positions and long-term technology employment opportunities. The organization also funds STEM educational programs, apprenticeship initiatives, professional development courses, and emergency services support in communities hosting operational facilities. During 2025, Nebius Academy established partnerships with 16 academic institutions, including Rowan University, to build AI and cloud computing career pipelines.
