Shares of POET Technologies Inc. advanced 5.19% to $9.33 on Thursday following improved quarterly financial performance and significant commercial developments. The photonic solutions provider achieved its sixth straight quarter of sequential revenue expansion in Q2. Additionally, a substantial $50 million purchase order from Lumilens has bolstered the company’s position in AI infrastructure markets.
POET Technologies delivered second-quarter revenue of $569,925, marking a 13% sequential increase from Q1. Year-over-year comparisons revealed an impressive 112% jump from $268,469 in the prior-year period. This performance represents the company’s sixth consecutive quarter of sequential revenue advancement.
The firm’s quarterly net loss totaled $11.3 million, an improvement from $12.3 million in the preceding quarter. Loss per share came in at $0.07, better than the $0.08 recorded in Q1. Compared to the year-ago quarter, the loss showed substantial improvement from $17.3 million reported in Q2 2025.
Research and development spending rose to $5.8 million as the company accelerated product innovation initiatives. This compares to $4.5 million in the prior quarter and $3.1 million in the same period last year. Operating cash usage climbed to $12.2 million versus $8.8 million in Q1.
POET Technologies announced a significant $50 million initial purchase order stemming from its Lumilens strategic collaboration. The arrangement involves producing optical engines utilizing POET’s proprietary Optical Interposer platform for next-generation computing applications. The partnership framework could ultimately generate cumulative orders exceeding $500 million across a five-year timeframe.
Beyond the Lumilens agreement, the company captured an additional $2.4 million order from an established customer following quarter-end. POET also finalized terms with a leading laser manufacturer for an external light-source engine. Furthermore, the company gained exclusive rights to a component that enhances Blazar hybrid laser output capabilities.
These commercial wins position POET favorably for its planned optical engine production acceleration scheduled for the latter half of 2026. The company specializes in photonic integrated circuits, light sources, and optical modules serving data center and advanced computing markets. These recent agreements significantly expand POET’s addressable opportunities as clients build out high-performance optical infrastructure.
POET concluded June with $796.3 million in cash and short-term investments after completing a substantial financing round in May. The company successfully raised $400 million through a unit offering that issued 19,047,620 units priced at $21 each. Each unit comprised one common share plus one warrant with an exercise price of $26.25, valid through May 2029.
This substantial capital infusion equips POET with resources to scale manufacturing infrastructure and meet projected customer requirements. The funding also supports the production expansion initiatives connected to the Lumilens collaboration. POET strengthened its management team by naming Sandeep Kumar as chief operating officer to direct growing manufacturing activities.
On August 11, POET authorized 2,453,271 restricted stock units for company executives. The award value was determined using the August 10 closing stock price of $8.56. These equity grants will vest in equal installments over three annual anniversaries according to POET’s 2026 incentive compensation framework.
