The equity had already surged 19.28% during after-hours activity on Tuesday, having concluded the standard trading day at $13.69 before the quarterly results sparked investor enthusiasm.

Second-quarter 2026 revenues reached $20.7 million, representing a 52.3% annual expansion and a 50% sequential improvement. This performance significantly outpaced the Wall Street consensus forecast of $13.52 million by more than 52%.

The company reported a loss per share of -$0.30, slightly missing analyst expectations of -$0.27 by roughly 11%. However, market participants appeared willing to overlook this singular shortfall.

The profitability metric stole the spotlight. Gross margin improved to 21.5%, representing a remarkable reversal from the negative 11.7% figure posted in Q2 2025. This transformation resulted from elevated average selling prices combined with enhanced revenue generation from Rapid Production Services.

Order Book and Production Capabilities

The company’s backlog approached $31 million as of the end of June, nearly doubling from the prior-year period. Balance sheet strength improved with cash holdings rising to $91.1 million while outstanding debt decreased by more than 70% to just $8.2 million.

During the quarterly conference call, CEO Arun Jaldi revealed that customer demand is exceeding current production capabilities. “We absolutely need 100 machines as of today to actually run all the programs on the demand we have,” he stated.

In response to this constraint, Velo3D announced intentions to establish a new Livermore Production Campus. The proposed facility aims to triple manufacturing output, targeting deployment of 100 production machines by the middle of 2028.

Jaldi offered candid remarks about the company’s current trajectory. “The last one and a half year for Velo3D is just purely the stability of the company,” he explained. “Now we are beyond that point. Now it’s a growth phase.”

He characterized the preceding 18 months as challenging yet essential. “It’s been an 18-month really hard journey, and turning around a company is not easy. We have faced a lot of ups and downs, and I think we’re in a position to thrive now.”

Updated Financial Outlook

Management elevated its full-year 2026 revenue projection to a range of $65 million-$75 million, an increase from the previously communicated $60 million-$70 million band.

The organization also reaffirmed its projection of achieving positive adjusted EBITDA during the latter half of 2026.

Customer demand is being driven by defense, aerospace, and energy sectors. Velo3D’s advanced metal 3D-printing platforms serve clients including SpaceX.

The Nasdaq composite advanced 0.7% while the S&P 500 index posted a 0.2% gain on the same day, movements far too modest to account for VELO’s premarket performance. This price action clearly reflects company-specific developments.

Velo3D has traded between $2.81 and $31.75 over the past 52 weeks. The company’s market capitalization currently stands at approximately $408 million.
