Samsung has launched commercial-scale production of its PM1763 enterprise solid-state drive, specifically engineered to integrate with Nvidia’s (NVDA) Vera Rubin AI infrastructure platform scheduled for release later this year.

The company made the announcement on Wednesday. Trading on the South Korean exchange showed Samsung stock at 288,500 KRW (approximately $190), marking a 2.53% decline for the session.

Built on PCIe 6.0 architecture, the PM1763 doubles the data transmission capacity compared to PCIe 5.0 technology. The 16TB configuration achieves sequential read performance reaching 28,400 MB/s with write speeds hitting 21,900 MB/s — approximately double the capabilities of the PM1753, its predecessor model.

The storage solution comes in three capacity options: 4TB, 8TB, and 16TB.

The drive utilizes Samsung’s most advanced V-NAND flash memory technology paired with a cutting-edge 4-nanometer controller chip. Additionally, the device supports liquid-cooling server configurations — a growing requirement in energy-intensive AI computing facilities.

Samsung reports the PM1763 delivers power efficiency improvements exceeding 1.8 times compared to the earlier generation. This enhancement represents a critical advantage for organizations managing extensive AI computing operations.

The security features have also received substantial enhancements. The drive incorporates encryption designed to withstand potential quantum computing attacks and introduces additional protections for virtualized data transmission channels.

Samsung unveiled the PM1763 initially at Nvidia’s GTC 2026 conference in March, simultaneously announcing intentions to provide HBM4 memory and SOCAMM2 modules for the Vera Rubin platform. The manufacturer is strategically positioning itself as a comprehensive memory solutions provider for this ecosystem.

Samsung Dominates Enterprise SSD Sector

According to TrendForce data, Samsung captured 35% of the enterprise SSD marketplace during Q1. Trailing competitors include SK Hynix, Micron (MU), Kioxia, and SanDisk.

The enterprise SSD segment achieved record-breaking revenue of $18.46 billion during Q1 2026, representing an 86.1% increase from the previous quarter. TrendForce attributed this growth primarily to cloud service provider demand and expanding AI agent service adoption.

Enhanced storage performance has emerged as a critical constraint for AI infrastructure development. Graphics processing units require continuous data streams from storage systems, and improved SSD capabilities help minimize latency in both AI training and inference operations.

Impressive Preliminary Q2 Financial Results

Samsung announced preliminary Q2 operating profit of 89.4 trillion won ($58.4 billion). This represents growth from 57.2 trillion won in Q1 and a dramatic increase from merely 4.68 trillion won during Q2 2025.

Preliminary revenue totaled 171 trillion won ($112.3 billion), compared with 133.87 trillion won in Q1 and 74.57 trillion won in the same quarter last year.

Samsung’s equity has appreciated 147% throughout 2026, according to Benzinga data, with the corporation’s chairman ranking among the year’s top wealth gainers.

Benzinga Edge Stock Rankings indicate the stock demonstrates favorable price momentum across short, medium, and long-term periods at the time of this report.
