Futures contracts for the S&P 500 advanced 0.42%. Contracts tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 0.31%. The Cboe Volatility Index futures climbed 2.09%.
Sandisk emerged as the leading premarket performer, surging 7.3%. Coherent Corp registered a 7.0% advance. MaxLinear, Western Digital, and Powell Industries each recorded increases exceeding 6%.
Among declining stocks, First Citizens Bancshares Class A shares tumbled 38.4% during early morning activity. Equifax slid 11.2%.
Nebius shares rose 6% following a regulatory disclosure from Nvidia revealing beneficial ownership of 9.3% in the cloud infrastructure provider specializing in artificial intelligence. The chipmaker’s position encompasses a $2 billion capital infusion announced earlier and 21.1 million shares held through a warrant agreement dated March.
The warrant cannot be exercised by Nvidia, nor can those shares be sold, until September 11, 2026. Nevertheless, the filing strengthened market sentiment toward Nebius.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company advanced 4% after Nikkei Asia published a report indicating the foundry intends to implement wafer price increases reaching 10% in 2027. Orders for advanced semiconductor nodes exceeding customer projections may face additional premiums of 10% to 15%. Legacy technology node pricing is also scheduled to increase by up to 10%.
