Pi Network News: PayPal PI Deal Debate, Price Reaction, Migration Next

Pi Network News this week centers on PayPal. The payments giant has reportedly opened its "Pay with Crypto" program to $PI, placing it alongside Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin, Shiba Inu, Solana, and Ondo.

Pioneers welcomed the update fast, but one detail keeps the story unfinished: PayPal still has not shown up on $PI's official business verification list.

Pi Network News: Is PayPal's $PI Support Really Officially Confirmed

Does PayPal's crypto payment support actually count as an official Pi Network integration? Based on available records, not yet, and the KYB list is the reason why.

The Facts on Record

KYB stands for business verification, a compliance step central to how Pi Network News gets reported around new integrations. It exists to keep the ecosystem safety-first. Before any exchange, wallet, or platform can plug into $PI, it has to pass identity and compliance checks and land on a public registry at minepi.com/kyb-list.

  • PayPal reportedly supports $PI, $DOGE, $BTC, $ETH, $SHIB, $SOL, and $ONDO

  • PayPal is not listed on $Pi's official KYB business registry

  • Verified platforms include OKX and MEXC

  • Pi-Core Team has not issued a formal confirmation

The Comparison: Kraken's Precedent

A similar pattern played out with Kraken. The exchange listed $PI before any official word came from  the Core Team, and the team only acknowledged it after the fact, once its own review process caught up.

That gap between a platform going live and Pi-Core Team confirming it through KYB is not new. Pioneers tracking today's PayPal news point to that history as the likely explanation, especially with the team reportedly focused on rolling out its next protocol upgrade.

The Debate: Is KYB Even the Right Test Here

So is the KYB gap proof that PayPal's $PI support is not real? Not necessarily, and this is where this week's Pi Network News debate splits into two readings.

  • Case for "it's real, KYB just doesn't apply": KYB was built to vet platforms that let people buy or sell $PI directly, since that is where fraud and compliance risk concentrate. PayPal's "Pay with Crypto" feature works more like a spending or checkout tool than an exchange. So, under this reading it may simply fall outside what KYB was ever meant to cover, one user explained

Payment platforms such as Robopay and Fabric Foundation, which have confirmed $PI use for payments, are absent from the KYB list for the same reason.

  • Case for "it's unconfirmed until proven otherwise": Absence from KYB just means unverified, full stop. Reports about PayPal so far come from unofficial sources, not a statement from PayPal or Pi-Core Team.

Until one of them confirms it directly, treating the integration as settled fact risks spreading information that later turns out incomplete or wrong.

The Verdict

Put together, the data behind this Pi Network News story shows a real gap between what is reported and what is verified, not necessarily a sign that the integration itself is fake.

The honest answer sits between confirmed and confirmed false: $PI's presence in PayPal's crypto options looks plausible given the pattern set by Kraken, but it stays unofficial until either company puts it in writing.

Pi Coin Price Today: Token Surged on Bitcoin Rally Or Something Else

$PI surged over 5.5% today before cooling down in the current 4–5% range. The raw numbers behind the move according to CoinMarketCap:

Pi Coin Price Today

  • Price: $0.0941, up 4.66% (24h)

  • Market cap: $1.04 billion

  • 24-hour volume: $13.8 million, up 27.84%

  • Fully diluted valuation: $9.43 billion

  • Circulating supply: 11.07 billion

  • Total and max supply: 100 billion

$PI's gain trails the broader crypto market, which climbed more than 7.5% on the recent Bitcoin rally of over $78K. However, the jump in trading volume suggests fresh attention rather than a quiet drift higher.

Pi Network Update: Testnet Protocol 27 Goes Live, Mainnet Next

The next thread in this news cycle involves the protocol itself. Testnet 1 is now running Protocol 27, described by the team as the final planned upgrade before mainnet changes take effect.

The build brings full infrastructure readiness, with RPC servers, a decentralized exchange, and automated market maker liquidity pools now in place. It also marks $Pi's complete departure from Stellar's original protocol limits, and testnet node count has passed 200,000.

Pi Network Update

Alongside the Node 0.6.2 release, another piece of Pi Network News emerged: an initial distributed computing test wrapped up through SoloHost. Five volunteer node operators completed computing tasks sent automatically through the SoloHost app, validating the full flow from task assignment to reporting results back to a Pi coordinator.

The rollout sequence now reads: Testnet 1 on v27 complete, Testnet 2 on v27 next, and mainnet last.

What the White House Crypto Meeting Means for Pi Network News Today

A separate thread of Pi Network News adds context to all of this. President Trump's August 19 meeting on crypto policy brought together major names including Coinbase, Ripple, Robinhood, Gemini, Kraken, Chainlink, Nasdaq, and CME.

The bigger takeaway is that traditional finance, crypto, decentralized finance, AI, prediction markets, stablecoins, and tokenized assets appear headed toward a shared regulatory conversation.

The network already holds several relevant pieces: KYC and KYB systems, mainnet-linked applications, payment infrastructure, node and computing tools, and a large global user base.

Regulatory clarity alone will not manufacture demand for $PI. It only sets clearer rules for everyone. The network still needs to show that pioneers generate real economic activity and that developers build tools people actually use.

Now the question is: whether Pi Network can convert years of community growth into verified, working financial infrastructure once the rules of the road become clear.
