President Trump is urging the Federal Communications Commission to investigate what he describes as fake polls by news outlets and to rebuke NBC moderator Kristen Welker for her reporting on his candidate endorsements.
Trump issued the demands through multiple Truth Social posts.
Trump criticizes Welker for stating his endorsements produced mixed results, asserting instead that they achieved a 100% win rate for the U.S. Senate and 98% for the U.S. House in recent and long-term primaries.
Says Trump,
“THE FAKE POLLS USED BY OUR CROOKED MEDIA ARE OUT OF CONTROL, AND SOMETHING MUST BE DONE ABOUT IT. FCC TO THE RESCUE!…
Because of this purposeful inaccuracy, she will be reported to the FCC for rebuke or punishment.”
Recent polls place Trump’s approval rating at its lowest level across both terms in office as the Iran conflict drags on and gas prices stay elevated.
The FCC lacks authority over cable networks, print outlets or independent polling organizations, limiting any potential response to broadcast licensing matters.
An NBC spokesperson defended Welker, saying she ranks among the best in the business and that the network stands by her reporting.
