Ripple this week renews its custody relationship with Garanti BBVA Crypto. The move also positions itself within the rapidly expanding Turkish market of digital assets. The renewal allows Ripple to continue with its support of XRP, Bitcoin (BTC), and Ethereum (ETH) custody.
It helps the firm to develop institutional strategy within the regulated markets. BankXRP first announced the development.
Middle East and Africa Managing Director of Ripples Reece Merrick confirmed the extension in a statement. He said that the custody platform will also hold assets under custody to millions of Turkish users.
The purchase continues to make Ripple a provider of business-level digital asset infrastructure. It also aligns with the growing need for controlled custodial services in Turkey.
Turkey is now a significant crypto hub of the world. The excessive inflation and currency instability have driven many citizens to digital substitutes.
Such change has led to the demand for safe storage tools, which are supported by institutional requirements. The re-established partnership by the company directly reacts to such a trend in the market
Garanti BBVA Crypto is a subsidiary of the second-largest Turkish private bank. The platform joined the crypto industry in late 2024 following a pilot with Ripple and IBM.
That pilot focused on institutional key management and early technical deployment. It provided the foundation of the long-range digital asset propositions of the bank.
Ripple Metaco technology, the Ripple technology, facilitated the most crucial governance activities to the pilot. The LinuxONE servers provided by IBM supplied the necessary hardware framework for custodial standards.
This renewal continues to make the platform reliant on Metaco, which it acquired in 2023. The acquisition augmented company capacities through controlled custody provisions.

The Metaco parent company is also expanding their institutional business outside of Turkey. Lately, the firm partnered with DXC Technology to help the Worldwide Banks with the sale of digital goods and foreign currency transfer.
It also collaborated with UC Berkeley in its research related to the institutional blockchain adoption. These projects increase the overall market presence of the firm.
Ripple Custody is an enterprise offered to financial institutions, fintech companies, and crypto-native firms. It provides a safe storage configuration, availability and reliability of operation, and controlled governance.
In the case of Garanti BBVA Crypto, the new agreement increases user confidence and scalability of the service. It also enhances the platform with the capability of supporting large digital assets.
The platform made another milestone last week, the financial regulator of Luxembourg, CSSF, issued a Green Light Letter to Ripple. The letter gives the initial confirmation of an Electronic Money Institution license.
It further extends the list of over 75 regulatory approvals granted to the company around the globe. The license assists the platform in its growth in regulated financial sectors.
BankXRP stated that the renewal implies steady institutional progress rather than market noise over the short term. The growth focuses on the newfound importance of the company in the tracked cryptocurrency infrastructure.
