Stablecoin News: Card Spending Reaches a New Monthly Record

Monthly Card Spend Crosses $1 Billion for the First Time

This week's stablecoin news centers on a clear milestone. PaymentScan's monthly chart, built directly from onchain settlement data, shows spending climbing from $382 million in August 2025 to $1.035 billion in July 2026, an almost threefold increase in under a year.

Over 10 million individual purchases were made in July alone, and the platform's own data puts year-over-year growth at 200%.

The Numbers Behind July's Record

The numbers behind this round of Stablecoin News, per PaymentScan's tracked data:

  • $1.03B in total monthly card spend for July 2026

  • +16% growth from June to July

  • +200% year-over-year growth

  • 10 million+ individual purchases in July

  • Roughly $1 million was the total monthly volume just three years ago

PaymentScan tracks card issuers across multiple chains, including Ethereum, Solana, Base, Tron, and Polygon, spanning providers such as RedotPay, KAST, Gnosis Pay, Wirex, and Rain-issued cards.

The $1.03 billion figure represents this combined, industry-wide total rather than any single card program.

Instant Settlement Is Fueling the Growth

Growth of this kind reflects two things stablecoin cards offer that traditional cards generally don't: near-instant settlement and access for users without a local bank account.

As more regional issuers launch and stablecoins continue settling faster than multi-day card networks, that combination has pushed monthly volume higher every month PaymentScan has tracked it.

The original report also credited Jupiter, the Solana-based trading platform, with helping drive adoption through local integrations like QR-based payments across more than 60 countries, adding that 68% of volume came from non-US users.

Jupiter has built real infrastructure in this space; its Jupiter Global card program supports fee-free QR Pay in parts of Asia and fiat remittance across 50-plus countries.

Jupiter's Own Card Data Tells a Different Story

A closer look at Jupiter's own numbers complicates that framing, though. According to onchain settlement data independently tracked at SpendNode, Jupiter's card product processed just $424,000 in spend during July 2026, down 70.4% from June's $1.4 million, a fraction of one percent of the industry-wide $1.03 billion total.

SpendNode attributes the drop to the end of Jupiter's cashback promotion on July 1, when its reward rate fell from a launch-era 4% to a standard 2%.

That doesn't necessarily mean Jupiter's broader payments infrastructure isn't contributing elsewhere, but it does mean Jupiter's own branded card is not the primary engine behind July's record total.

The $1.03 billion figure reflects the combined activity of dozens of card programs, not any one issuer.

Analysts Project $1.5 Billion by Year-End

PaymentScan's own projection puts monthly stablecoin card volume above $1.5 billion by year-end if the current trend holds, consistent with the 200% year-over-year pace recorded so far.

Any single issuer's share of that total, including Jupiter's, can shift quickly as individual promotions start and end, so the more reliable signal remains the industry-wide trend rather than any one platform's claimed role in it.

Conclusion

The headline figure in this stablecoin news update is well-documented: $1.03 billion in monthly card spending, up 200% year-over-year, with over 10 million purchases in July.

Which specific platforms are driving that growth is less clear-cut since Jupiter's own on-chain card data shows a program that's currently shrinking rather than leading the surge.

The broader shift toward instant, borderless stablecoin payments looks intact regardless, but attributing it to any single platform needs a closer look at the underlying numbers.
