By acquiring GTreasury, Ripple gets access to compliance, risk, and treasury module capabilities. Alongside past acquisitions (e.g. Metaco, Fortress Trust, Algrim, Standard Custody & Trust), Ripple is building a regulated, end-to-end stack for institutional clients – a move that hasn’t gone unnoticed.
The move also supports its XRPL DeFi and tokenization roadmap, as it ramps up stablecoin use, on-chain liquidity, and tokenized asset finance.
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse framed the deal as a fusion of blockchain’s efficiency with GTreasury’s compliance rigor, and the potential disruption of a relatively-untouched market sector.
