Ethereum Foundation Expands DeFi Footprint With Fresh 3,400 ETH Allocation to Morpho

19-Mar-2026 Crypto Economy

The Ethereum Foundation made another move within the DeFi ecosystem. The organization announced a new deposit of 3,400 ETH into Morpho, a decentralized lending and credit protocol. This marks its second public intervention on this type of platform. Of that total, 1,000 ETH were allocated specifically to Morpho Vaults V2, the most recent version of the protocol’s infrastructure, designed for greater capital efficiency and yield generation.

According to an official update published on X, the foundation indicated that it continues to explore decentralized finance as part of its treasury management strategy. In October 2025, the Ethereum Foundation had already deployed 2,400 ETH along with approximately $6 million in stablecoins into Morpho Vaults V1, laying the groundwork for a strategy that is now deepened with this new allocation.

The foundation is becoming one of the most active institutional players within the DeFi ecosystem. A clear trend is emerging among large crypto treasuries injecting capital into on-chain yield protocols rather than traditional financial instruments.
