Bids for the DogWifHat Pink Cap Reach $800K in Bitcoin

The knitted cap, originally crafted as a Christmas decoration, found meme immortality after Achi’s owners placed it on his head in November 2018 and snapped a photo.

That image quickly escaped into the wild, fueling an avalanche of meme edits, ironic captions, and eventually, a crypto token that made global headlines.

To confirm authenticity, the hat’s provenance has been recorded on the Bitcoin blockchain via Ordinals, complete with a photo of Achi and his owners posing with the item. The winning bidder will also receive high-resolution photos, a handwritten verification note, and a video detailing the hat’s backstory.

The digital side of the meme has already proven its value — last year, the Dogwifhat NFT fetched 1,210 ETH (around $4.3 million at the time). Now, the physical hat is leaving Achi’s home for the first and only public sale.

According to the owners, there will be no encore auction. Once it’s gone, it’s gone — making this a rare chance for a collector to own a tangible piece of internet and crypto culture.
