Archer Aviation (ACHR) climbed 3.9% to $4.96 on Monday, bouncing off a prior close of $4.77. The stock hit an intraday high of $4.99, though volume came in at roughly 30 million — about 21% below its daily average.
The move came as the company made two announcements that put it back on investor radar.
Archer launched America’s Consortium for Electric Skyways, known as ACES. The goal is to build up to 250 eVTOL charging sites across major U.S. metro areas, laying the physical groundwork for air taxi operations.
Alongside that, the company unveiled Zee, an aviation intelligence platform designed to process airspace data for airlines, air taxis, and government partners. Together, ACES and Zee connect infrastructure with software — a combination Archer is betting will matter as urban air mobility scales.
Despite the announcements, ACHR is down 39.11% year to date and has lost 54.12% over the past 12 months. The gap between the stock’s price and its potential has drawn attention.
Wall Street is split on ACHR. Four analysts have a Buy rating, two rate it Hold, and one rates it Sell. The average price target sits at $11.83 — more than double Monday’s trading price.
Canaccord Genuity trimmed its price target from $13.00 to $12.00 in May but kept a Buy rating. Weiss Ratings reaffirmed a Sell rating in July.
The company reported a quarterly loss of $0.28 per share in May, missing the $0.25 estimate by $0.03. Revenue of $1.60 million also came in below the $1.66 million consensus.
Archer carries a market cap of $3.76 billion, a P/E ratio of -4.50, and a beta of 3.19. Its 50-day moving average is $5.45, and its 200-day moving average sits at $6.26.
CFO Priya Gupta sold 9,860 shares at $5.95 in May, totaling around $58,667. CAO Harsh Rungta sold 12,414 shares at the same price. Both sales were made to cover tax obligations tied to equity award vesting.
Over the past three months, insiders sold 250,743 shares worth roughly $1.5 million. Insiders hold 5.55% of the stock; institutional investors hold 59.34%.
Several funds added to positions in recent quarters. Handelsbanken Fonder AB grew its stake by 41.5%, and CoreCap Advisors nearly doubled its position with a 97.6% increase.
One widely-followed valuation narrative puts ACHR’s fair value at $20.04, citing its Stellantis manufacturing partnership, a United Airlines order book, and a projected path to FAA certification for its Midnight aircraft.
Analysts forecast a full-year loss of $1.40 per share for the current fiscal year.
