  • The company cut its 2026 tariff impact estimate to $40M-$90M, down from $100M-$150M
  • An anticipated $60M refund from the U.S. government drove the tariff revision

Alcon now expects core diluted earnings per share to grow 12% to 15% this year. That is up from the 10% to 13% range it guided in May, and marks the second upgrade to this metric in 2026.

The company also widened its core operating profit margin forecast. It now sees margin expansion of 90 to 190 basis points for the full year, compared to the previous guidance of 70 to 170 basis points.

Full-year net sales growth guidance was left unchanged at 5% to 7% on a constant currency basis.

Tariff Hit Cut Nearly in Half

The tariff revision was one of the bigger takeaways from the update. Alcon now estimates the full-year tariff impact at $40 million to $90 million, down from a prior range of $100 million to $150 million.

The change is largely tied to an anticipated refund of around $60 million from the U.S. government.

The U.S. is a key market for Alcon, accounting for 45% of net sales in the first half of the year. Most of its major production facilities are also based in the country, which limits some of the supply chain exposure other companies face.

Q2 Results Beat on Both Top and Bottom Lines

Second-quarter net sales came in at $2.78 billion, up from $2.58 billion in the same period a year earlier. That result narrowly topped the LSEG-compiled analyst consensus.

Adjusted EPS for the quarter was $0.84, ahead of the $0.75 IBES estimate.

Management pointed to new product launches and strong commercial execution as key drivers of the beat.

Core operating margin for Q2 was 20.6%.

The guidance raise and tariff revision came alongside the Q2 results, which were released late Monday.
