TL;DR
Anichess, the Web3 chess platform developed by Animoca Brands in collaboration with Chess.com, has integrated the CHECK token as its native currency within its ecosystem. The addition transforms players’ skills into measurable on-chain value, offering rewards based on performance and active participation in the community.
CHECK is a utility token with a fixed supply of 1 billion units. Of that total, 59.38% is allocated to ecosystem growth and player experience rewards. Its design emphasizes quality engagement, rewarding knowledge, creativity, and strategic contributions rather than superficial activity or repetitive clicks.
With the adoption of CHECK, Anichess introduces several new features. Players will be able to join skill-based tournaments, stake tokens to progress through Mate Points (M8), earn performance-linked rewards, unlock exclusive collectibles, and participate in ecosystem governance. The rollout will occur in phases, allowing the team to refine mechanics according to adoption and community feedback.
The platform already has more than one million players, including prominent grandmasters such as Magnus Carlsen and Anish Giri. Anichess thus becomes the first game to integrate a token in this way, combining the experience of traditional chess with a Web3 model centered on skill and strategy.

Chevan Tin, head of Anichess, explained that integrating the CHECK token aligns rewards with the most important qualities of chess: skill and strategic decision-making.

Through this integration, Animoca Brands strengthens the connection between Web3 gaming and the reward of real-world skills, setting a precedent for future projects aiming to merge entertainment, strategy, and digital economy within a unified ecosystem.
