The company announced it had agreed to acquire three Boeing subsidiaries, sending the stock up 24% to $6.91 in premarket trading.

The three companies being acquired are Wisk Aero, SkyGrid, and Insitu. Each one adds something different to Archer’s portfolio.

Wisk Aero is the headline grab here. The company develops autonomous air taxis, which puts it right in line with what Archer is already building.

Insitu manufactures drones, while SkyGrid is an air-traffic management software provider. Together, the three acquisitions give Archer a broader stack of aviation technology.

What Boeing Gets Out of the Deal

Boeing is not walking away empty-handed. The planemaker will receive a nearly 20% stake in Archer as part of the acquisition agreements, according to regulatory filings.

Boeing will also receive warrants in Archer as part of the arrangement. That gives the company ongoing exposure to the flying-taxi space without running the operations itself.

Boeing stock barely moved on the news, slipping 0.2% to $233.92 before the bell. The market largely shrugged off the exit from these subsidiaries.

Archer’s Position Before the Deal

Archer came into Monday’s session in rough shape. The stock was down 26% year-to-date before the announcement hit.

The jump to $6.91 in premarket trading represents a sharp single-day reversal for a stock that had been grinding lower through 2026.

The California-based startup has been working to build out its flying-taxi business, and this deal adds established technology and operational assets to that effort.

Wisk Aero in particular brings autonomous flight capabilities that Archer did not previously have in-house.

SkyGrid’s air-traffic software could also play a role in how Archer manages and scales future operations, though the company has not yet outlined specific integration plans.

Insitu’s drone technology rounds out the acquisition, expanding Archer’s reach beyond passenger air taxis into the broader unmanned aircraft market.

The deal represents one of the more concrete moves in the urban air mobility space this year, with a major aerospace company transferring assets directly to a startup.

Boeing’s decision to take equity rather than cash keeps it tied to the sector’s upside without the cost of continuing to develop these businesses independently.

Archer stock entered Monday’s premarket at $6.91, up 24% on the session, with the broader market yet to open.
