Pinterest (PINS) has had a rough weekend. The company disclosed both a major insider stock sale and a CFO departure on the same Friday, sending a mixed message to investors already sitting on a 35% loss over the past year.
PINS was trading at $23.66 as of the Aug. 25 market close.
Co-founder and Chair Benjamin Silbermann sold 93,750 Pinterest stock for roughly $2.2 million on Aug. 25 and 26, 2026. The weighted average sale price came in at $23.55. The sale was executed through the Benjamin and Divya Silbermann Family Trust, following a conversion of Class B Common Stock into Class A Common Stock.
The transaction was carried out under a Rule 10b5-1 trading plan, which Silbermann adopted on Feb. 27, 2026. These plans are set up in advance, so the timing of the sale is not tied to any inside knowledge of company events.
After the sale, Silbermann holds 13,996 shares of Class A Common Stock directly. But he still has around 1.2 million Class B shares directly and roughly 78.2 million shares held indirectly through trusts and affiliated entities, so his alignment with the company is intact.
Pinterest also announced Friday that CFO Julia Brau Donnelly is leaving to pursue an opportunity with a private company. The company said her departure is not related to any disagreement over operations, accounting, or company policy.
Vikram Naidu, currently VP of Finance and Business Operations, will step in as interim Principal Financial Officer effective Oct. 30. Naidu has previous finance roles at Verkada and Lyft.
Pinterest has also separately named Renee Jewell as its new Chief Accounting Officer, effective Aug. 26. Jewell brings experience from Airbnb, eBay, and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Baird analyst Colin Sebastian kept a Neutral rating and $26 price target on PINS following the CFO news. The broader Wall Street consensus on price targets ranges from $22 to $42.36.
Pinterest posted $1.2 billion in Q2 revenue, up 18% year-over-year, beating analyst expectations. Growth was driven by strong performance in the U.S. and Canada, along with improvements to its advertising platform.
However, the company guided Q3 revenue growth of just 13% to 15%, which came in below what Wall Street was hoping to see. That deceleration weighed on sentiment.
Pinterest hit an all-time high of 640 million global monthly active users in Q2, up 11% year-over-year. Despite the user growth, the company posted a Q2 net loss of $46.7 million.
DA Davidson raised its price target to $27 with a Buy rating after Q2. Susquehanna kept a Positive rating with a $32 target. Mizuho also set a $32 target, citing solid quarterly results and a 1 percentage point increase in 2026 adjusted EBITDA margin guidance.
Pinterest carries a market cap of $15.1 billion with trailing 12-month revenue of $4.6 billion and net income of $248.9 million.
