TL;DR
Nethermind is shifting its cross-chain strategy after completing what it described as an extensive review of its role within the LayerZero ecosystem. The engineering firm confirmed it is leaving its position as a verifier and consolidating its operations under Chainlink, marking one of the most notable cross-chain realignments in recent months.
Nethermind has joined the @chainlink Network as a node operator and strategic technology provider, helping secure CCIP and Data Feeds as part of a joint mission to bring institutions onchain securely. https://t.co/SAqDnCGHQP

Nethermind said it has moved away from its DVN responsibilities and joined the Chainlink Network as both a node operator and a strategic technology provider. DVNs serve as independent validators that check message integrity across LayerZero-powered systems. By transitioning to Chainlink, the company will now contribute engineering tools, infrastructure services, and integration support for teams building blockchain applications.
A Chainlink spokesperson said the decision highlights a broader shift toward secure-by-default architectures as institutional interest in onchain finance accelerates. Nethermind is among several firms that have redirected cross-chain operations to Chainlink following the April exploit on Kelp DAO’s rsETH bridge, which resulted in the loss of 116,500 rsETH valued at about $292 million at the time.
It remains unclear whether Nethermind began its review in response to the exploit. The firm did not immediately comment, and the announcement did not cite a specific technical issue with LayerZero or disclose financial terms related to the migration.

Founded in 2017, Nethermind has grown into a major Ethereum engineering provider with more than 200 employees. The firm develops one of Ethereum’s primary execution clients and says its software supports over 16,000 validators and more than $5 billion in delegated assets. Its infrastructure is used by projects including EtherFi, Gnosis, Lido, StarkWare, World and Arbitrum. Nethermind also works on security, formal verification and institutional-grade blockchain infrastructure.
CEO Daniel Celeda said the company is making a long-term commitment to Chainlink for its cross-chain operations. He emphasized that running node infrastructure requires reliability and aligns with the firm’s engineering philosophy. Nethermind said it will share updates throughout the migration but did not provide a timeline for completion.
