FG Nexus Dumps Ethereum Holdings After $45.2M Loss

FG Nexus disclosed the completed digital asset exit in its August 12 quarterly filing. The Nasdaq-listed company classified the former digital asset business as discontinued operations. FG Nexus reported no cryptocurrency holdings at the end of June.

The company recorded a $41.167 million loss on its Ethereum digital assets. It also booked a $2.793 million impairment charge on other digital intangible assets. General and administrative expenses connected with the operation reached another $1.789 million.

However, other items partly reduced costs within the discontinued business during the period. FG Nexus recorded a $398,000 gain on digital intangible assets and generated $144,000 from staking. Therefore, the $45.207 million figure represents the entire digital asset operation’s loss, not only Ethereum sales.

Ethereum Sales Raise More Than $75 Million in Cash

FG Nexus received $60.956 million in cash from Ethereum sales during the first half. Another $14.983 million remained receivable from digital asset disposals at June 30. The company collected that outstanding amount during July.

Those proceeds represent cash received from asset sales rather than profits from the transactions. FG Nexus reported a consolidated first-half net loss of $56.928 million. Thus, its discontinued cryptocurrency business accounted for a large portion of total losses.

The company launched its Ethereum treasury strategy during the second half of 2025. By September 28, FG Nexus reported ownership of 50,770 ETH worth about $207 million. Its average purchase price stood near $3,860 for each Ethereum token.

FG Nexus Shifts Capital Toward Real Estate

FG Nexus originally raised $200 million while positioning Ethereum as its primary treasury asset. Management also planned to generate additional returns through staking and other Ethereum-related opportunities. However, the company began reducing its cryptocurrency exposure before completing the full exit.

The board authorized management on July 1 to move capital from digital assets into real estate. FG Nexus plans to focus mainly on land-lease manufactured housing properties through a new operating subsidiary. This strategy represents a significant change from the company’s previous cryptocurrency treasury model.

FG Nexus also continues evaluating a possible business combination with FG Communities. However, discussions remain preliminary, and the companies have not signed a definitive agreement. An independent special committee continues reviewing the proposed transaction with help from a financial adviser.

The Ethereum liquidation has strengthened FG Nexus’s available cash position following the treasury exit. Cash and equivalents stood at $24.9 million when the second quarter ended. By July 31, available cash increased to approximately $51.4 million after additional proceeds arrived.

FGNX stock closed at $7.59 on August 13 after gaining 8.43% during the session. The company had already announced its planned cryptocurrency exit on July 1. Therefore, the latest stock advance cannot be linked only to the August quarterly filing.
