The move came after Naver and Nvidia announced a partnership to develop sovereign AI infrastructure in South Korea.

The companies plan to build what they’re calling “AI factories” — full-stack data centers and infrastructure designed for the agentic AI era.

The first project targets 55 megawatts of capacity, with ambitions to eventually scale to gigawatt levels.

That scale-up will be powered by Nvidia’s DSX platform, which is designed to build end-to-end AI systems.

“Useful AI has arrived, and demand for AI factories is extraordinary,” Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said in a statement.

“With NVIDIA DSX, we can help Korea scale sovereign intelligence infrastructure for the agentic era — from AI agents to AI factories and physical AI,” Huang added.

The partnership will kick off at Naver’s Gak Sejong data center, located in the South Korean city of Sejong.

AI Scope Extends Beyond Data Centers

The deal doesn’t stop at computing infrastructure. The two companies also plan to collaborate on physical AI, covering enterprise and surveillance applications.

Naver has been building out its AI capabilities for years, including its in-house large language model HyperCLOVA X.

This partnership gives that effort a significant hardware and infrastructure partner in Nvidia.

Part of a Wider South Korea Push

The Naver deal was one of several announced during Huang’s visit to South Korea.

Nvidia also confirmed separate partnerships with chip memory maker SK Hynix and industrial conglomerate Doosan during the same trip.

The visits signal Nvidia’s push to deepen its presence in the South Korean technology sector.

Naver, which also co-owns the LINE messaging platform, is South Korea’s largest internet search company.

The 55-megawatt project at Gak Sejong is set to be the starting point for what both companies describe as a longer-term infrastructure buildout.
