Bitcoin hit $71,700, up 3.46% on the day, giving Strategy a direct boost. As the world’s largest corporate holder of Bitcoin with 840,447 BTC on its balance sheet, MSTR moves closely with the price of the token.

The White House summit, hosted Wednesday by President Donald Trump, brought together senior administration officials and crypto industry leaders. Topics included federal stablecoin frameworks, the CLARITY Act, and the creation of a national strategic Bitcoin reserve.

Higher Bitcoin prices expand Strategy’s net asset value and give management better access to capital markets to fund future Bitcoin purchases.

Institutional Interest Grows

Sound Financial Strategies Group LLC purchased 51,323 MSTR shares during Q2, valued at roughly $1.69 million. The position now represents 1.1% of the firm’s portfolio, making it the 14th-largest holding.

Other funds have also been building positions. Binnacle Investments increased its MSTR holdings by nearly 493% during Q2. Dogwood Wealth Management grew its stake by 280% in Q4. Institutional investors collectively hold 59.84% of Strategy stock.

Analyst sentiment sits at a Moderate Buy overall, with an average price target of $239.81. HC Wainwright has a $325 price target, while TD Cowen holds a Buy rating with a $260 target. Cantor Fitzgerald rates the stock Overweight with a $186 target.

Not everyone is bullish. Weiss Ratings downgraded MSTR to Sell in early August. Cantor Fitzgerald and TD Cowen both trimmed their price targets recently.

Earnings Miss and Insider Sales

Strategy’s Q2 earnings report, released July 31, showed a loss of $24.45 per share, far worse than the consensus estimate of $2.19. Revenue came in at $122.37 million, just under analyst estimates of $122.90 million. That figure was up 6.9% year over year.

The company has a market cap of $35.55 billion and a beta of 3.54, reflecting its high volatility. The stock’s 52-week range runs from $81.81 to $365.21. It is currently trading well below its 200-day moving average of $128.90.

Insider activity has leaned heavily toward selling. In the past 90 days, insiders sold 165,325 shares worth over $20.3 million while buying just 11,166 shares worth roughly $1 million.

Executive Chairman Michael Saylor said the company could consider buying back MSTR stock if it trades at a deep enough discount to the value of its Bitcoin holdings. Strategy also repurchased about $132 million of its STRC preferred stock.

Bitcoin accumulation has been on pause for seven straight weeks. CEO Phong Le said buying is expected to resume later in the year, though timing remains unclear. Strategy raised $333.7 million in Q2 by selling MSTR stock, using those proceeds for preferred dividends and STRC repurchases rather than Bitcoin purchases.

MSCI has proposed removing Strategy from some global investable indexes, which could reduce passive fund demand for the stock.
