Take-Two stock took a hit on Monday, sliding 6.7% to $219.70 after rumors circulated that Grand Theft Auto VI could face another delay.

Many online pointed to leaked GTA VI gameplay clips as the cause of the sell-off. But analysts pushed back on that theory.
Nick McKay, senior research analyst at Freedom Capital Markets, said the drop came from delay speculation, not the leaks themselves. He called those rumors “low-quality” in a Monday note.
McKay also pointed out that Rockstar Games official Rob Nelson confirmed the game is still on track in an Aug. 28 Famitsu interview.

A group of Jefferies analysts echoed that view, saying the leaks had minimal impact on the stock.
Bank of America analyst Omar Dessouky added that a further delay is unlikely. “With a full gameplay trailer now out, we see the risk of a further delay as very low, since the reveal signals the game is playable,” he wrote.
Before Monday’s drop, TTWO had closed at $235.39 on Friday after the gameplay trailer launched on Netflix and YouTube on Aug. 27. That was up 1% from Thursday’s close.
The footage made a serious splash on Netflix. The nearly 27-minute gameplay preview drew 31.1 million views and became the platform’s most-watched program last week.
It ranked No. 1 in 87 of the 93 countries Netflix tracks. The video stayed exclusive to Netflix for six hours before going live on YouTube and other platforms.
It even finished ahead of Netflix’s new Robert De Niro film, The Whisper Man, and the fifth season of Outer Banks. Netflix had never promoted an upcoming video game this way before.
The hype is not new. The first GTA VI trailer, released in 2023, has now reached around 293 million views on YouTube.
Take-Two has been dealing with leaks. More than a dozen GTA VI clips appeared online before the official gameplay premiere. The company has since subpoenaed chat platform Discord in an effort to identify who is responsible.
Rockstar Games called the leaks “heartbreaking” in an Aug. 26 statement on X, and also apologized for the game’s earlier delay. GTA VI was originally set for last fall, then pushed to May 2026, and is now scheduled for November 19.
Despite the leaks, interest in the official footage remained strong, with the Netflix debut standing as the clearest evidence yet.
Wall Street currently rates TTWO a Strong Buy, with 18 Buy ratings assigned in the past three months and an average price target of $297.29, implying around 37% upside from current levels.
