Target stock (TGT) edged higher to around $164 per share early Wednesday after the retailer confirmed September 10 as the launch date for Target Beauty Studio. The move came a day after a Halloween costume controversy pulled TGT down roughly 4% to $163.47.
Target Beauty Studio will launch in more than 600 stores and on Target.com. The new space will feature over 1,600 products from 90 prestige, emerging, and global brands. More than two-thirds of those brands will be new to Target.
The studio was first introduced in March this year. It is designed to give prestige beauty its own dedicated space within Target’s beauty department, going after a market estimated at $36 billion in 2025.
Skincare brands on offer will include Clearstem, First Aid Beauty, and Sunday Riley. Haircare will come from Bondi Boost, Briogeo, and Nioxin. K-Beauty labels Amuse, Kaja, and Rom&nd will also be part of the lineup, alongside Mexican brand SARELLY and French nailcare brand Manucurist.
Dedicated Beauty Advisors in signature uniforms will be on hand in stores. There will also be product testing areas and a center table for interactive brand displays, starting with Lake & Skye fragrances.
Rotating displays will highlight “Editors’ Picks,” “Most Loved,” and “Standouts of the Season.” Target Circle members will get exclusive offers tied to the new studio.
Target is hosting an in-store celebration on September 26 from 12 to 4 p.m. local time. The first 100 guests in most stores will receive an exclusive Target Circle bonus to spend in the new beauty space.
The launch comes shortly after Target and Ulta Beauty ended their five-year partnership earlier this month. Ulta’s branded sections have now been removed from Target stores and Target.com.
Both companies had announced the split in August last year. Analysts view Target Beauty Studio as a direct move to fill that gap, with some expecting the retailer to benefit from owning the space outright over the long term.
Target’s revenue grew 5.3% year-over-year in Q2 2026, reaching $26.54 billion. The company is targeting full-year sales growth of 5%.
Target described the beauty studio launch as part of a broader push to return to growth through more distinctive products and better in-store experiences.
On Wall Street, TGT holds a Moderate Buy consensus. That breaks down as 12 Buys, 14 Holds, and 2 Sells from analysts over the past three months. The average price target sits at $165.06, about 2% above current levels.
