08-Sep-2026 CoinCentral

TLDR

  • XRP traded near $1.40 on September 7, with a market cap of around $89.26 billion
  • Analyst Dark Defender says XRP is mimicking 2014 and 2017 breakout patterns, with a target of $18.23
  • U.S. spot XRP ETF inflows slowed to $18.96 million for the week ending September 4, down from $110.49 million the prior week
  • The Senate is set to vote on the CLARITY Act on September 15, the day before the Federal Reserve’s policy decision
  • Key resistance sits at $1.50–$1.55, with support at $1.35–$1.31

XRP entered September 2026 trading around $1.40, following a sharp recovery in August that briefly pushed the token to the $1.70 area. Since then, price has pulled back and consolidated, leaving traders watching whether the rebound has enough support to continue.

On September 7, XRP hit an intraday high of $1.43 and a low of $1.38. CoinGecko data put its market cap at $89.26 billion, with daily trading volume near $1.46 billion. Volume has cooled sharply since September 4, when it topped $4.17 billion.

XRP has broken above a short-term descending channel that formed after its August rally. However, that breakout has not yet turned into another sustained move higher. The price is consolidating just above its 20-day simple moving average of $1.3954.

The 50-day SMA sits at $1.1916, the 100-day at $1.1588, and the 200-day at $1.2739 — all well below the current price, showing how far XRP has recovered in recent weeks.

Crypto analyst Dark Defender posted a weekly chart on X showing XRP trading above multiple long-term exponential moving averages. He said the current setup mirrors patterns seen before the 2014 and 2017 rallies, calling it an EMA “Jumping Pattern.”

Dark Defender also pointed to what he calls “The Frog Leap” — a chart target near $18.23, representing a potential 1,201% rise from current levels. He wrote: “The Frog Leap for an all-time high is closer than you can ever imagine.” Whether or not the CLARITY Act passes, he said XRP is ready.

ETF Inflows Slow But Stay Positive

Spot XRP ETFs recorded $18.96 million in net inflows for the week ending September 4 — the eighth straight week of positive flows. That followed a much larger $110.49 million inflow the prior week. Cumulative net inflows stand at approximately $1.66 billion.

CME XRP futures open interest rose from around 284 million XRP to 387 million XRP between mid and end of August, lifting CME’s share of total XRP futures exposure from about 10% to 17%.

Two Big Catalysts on September 15–16

The Senate will hold a procedural vote on the CLARITY Act on September 15. The bill needs 60 votes to advance. Republicans hold 53 seats, meaning at least seven Democrats would need to cross over.

Former federal prosecutor Mariotti said the bill has lost momentum, stating: “CLARITY is dead.” Sen. Cynthia Lummis pushed back, warning the next opportunity for market structure legislation could be 2030 if it fails now.

The Federal Reserve’s policy decision follows on September 16. The U.S. added 162,000 nonfarm payrolls in August, with unemployment steady at 4.1%.

XRP ETF inflows stood at $18.96 million for the week ending September 4, with cumulative net assets reaching approximately $1.44 billion.
