XLM Supply Warning: Is Stellar Quietly Locking Away Millions of Tokens Now?

24-Jul-2026 Live Bitcoin News

XLM reserves lock 1 XLM per funded account and 0.5 XLM per trustline, while the price holds above $0.166955 support on the chart.

Stellar holders are reviewing how network reserve rules affect usable XLM supply. The debate centers on tokens held inside accounts and ledger entries.

Cheeky Crypto said every funded Stellar account needs a one XLM minimum reserve. Additional trustlines can also require 0.5 XLM each.

These rules may reduce the amount of XLM that can move freely. However, the effect depends on account activity, demand, and network usage.

The discussion comes as XLM trades near $0.182799 on Coinbase. The daily chart shows price holding above key Fibonacci support at $0.166955.

Stellar Reserve Rules Raise Supply Questions

Cheeky Crypto said Stellar’s account reserve system may lock away more XLM than many holders realize. Funded accounts need a minimum balance before they can remain active. This reserve cannot be spent like normal available XLM.

Trustlines, open offers, signers, and other ledger entries can increase that locked amount. A trustline can add a 0.5 XLM reserve requirement. These entries help users hold assets and interact with Stellar features.

However, locked reserves do not automatically create strong scarcity. Account count, payment volume, and active use must be judged separately. Large account numbers may not always show strong economic demand.

Activity and Demand Remain Important

Cheeky Crypto said holders should avoid judging the supply story from account numbers alone. Some accounts may be pooled, inactive, or supported through sponsored reserves. These factors can reduce the strength of a simple supply-squeeze argument.

Sponsored reserves can shift reserve costs away from some users. This may change how much XLM individual users need to hold directly. It also makes reserve data harder to read without wider network context.

Stellar’s rules can also change over time through network governance. Any reserve changes could affect how much XLM stays locked in accounts. Long-term holders may watch active accounts, payment volume, and real asset use.

XLM Price Holds Near Key Support

The first resistance sits near the $0.20 level. A stronger recovery would need XLM to reclaim $0.226355 on the daily chart. That level marks the 0.786 Fibonacci area and a key recovery point.

Momentum remains weak while XLM trades below $0.226355. The RSI sits near 44.19, below the neutral 50 mark. Buyers need to defend $0.166955 while watching reserve data and network demand.
