The XRP Ledger ecosystem reached a key milestone as institutional momentum builds around its latest software release.
Version 3.3.0 is now in the validator review stage, following a high-profile Ripple vote that showed strong community support for critical network maintenance.
The XRP Ledger is an open-source, distributed layer-1 blockchain optimized for cross-border transfers at low costs and with low latency. It uses a Unique Node List (UNL) of trusted validators to achieve consensus without the need for energy-intensive mining processes.
In the new version 3.3.0, the team added six changes that will need consensus before they can change the mainnet rules. A recent Ripple vote pushed the fixCleanup3_3_0 package into active validator evaluation across the network.

This basic package of maintenance includes multiple essential updates to protocols such as Automated Market Makers and permissioned order books. It also fixes edge case issues with Single Asset Vaults, the Lending Protocol and pseudo-accounts.
Most importantly, the update also improves node infrastructure by reducing RAM usage on nodes by more than 15%. As a result, this structural performance improvement speeds up the synchronization of all nodes in the network and increases the overall stability of the network in the long run.
Beyond core stability fixes, version 3.3.0 brings powerful new features designed for enterprise-grade decentralized finance applications. An example is the addition of private multi-purpose token transactions and compliance-friendly view keys in the ConfidentialTransfer amendment for regulators.
The DynamicMPT feature gives token issuers flexible, real-time control over custom asset properties. With a second ripple vote on similar proposals, there’s ongoing developer support to grow the ecosystem.
Additionally, the update brings back the BatchV1_1 amendment, which allows up to 8 bundled transactions to be executed as a single atomic operation. In addition, the PermissionDelegationV1_1 proposal enables account owners to grant key transaction permissions securely without revealing their primary keys.
Another feature is Sponsor, where a third-party entity pays transaction fees and holds a reserve for new users. These proposals form a more scalable and accessible institutional adoption base.
Any amendment to the XRP Ledger that is put into effect for the first time must go through a strong and transparent governance process. More specifically, a proposal requires an 80% supermajority of the validators of the trusted dUNL to approve it for the two consecutive weeks.
A positive ripple vote is thus essential as early support and is not enough to deploy ripples onto the mainnet. The fixCleanup amendment has 8 of the necessary 29 validator votes so far.
If the validator consensus is less than 80% for the entire 2 weeks, the timer will reset at that very moment. In addition, node operators will be amendment-blocked once features pass if they do not upgrade to version 3.3.0.
As more UNL validators vote, market participants are closely watching the ripple vote counts. This systematic governance process helps ensure that only well-vetted software alterations arrive in the mainnet live environment.
