Crypto Delisting News: How Binance and Coinbase Changes Affect Users

Two exchanges made moves this week that fall under crypto delisting news: Binance is discontinuing mainnet support for Sophon (SOPH) and migrating it to Ethereum on August 4, while Coin base is suspending trading of AZTEC perpetual futures (AZTEC-PERP) on August 17.

Neither move is a full token delisting in the traditional sense, but both change how and where holders can access these assets.

Official Details: Binance and Sophon (SOPH)

According to Binance's official announcement, published July 28, 2026:

  • Deposits and withdrawals of SOPH via the Sophon mainnet will be suspended at 2026-08-04, 08:00 UTC.

  • After that point, the Sophon mainnet will no longer be supported for deposits and withdrawals at all.

  • SOPH will migrate to the Ethereum (ERC20) network at a 1:1 ratio, with the new contract address published on Etherscan.

  • Binance confirmed that spot, margin, and futures trading, along with BNB Earn services, will not be affected during the migration.

Why it's happening: Binance did not give a detailed public reason beyond calling this a mainnet migration.

Practically, projects move to more established networks like Ethereum for reasons like liquidity, wallet support, or wind-down of a project's own chain, though Binance's notice doesn't spell out Sophon's specific motivation.

Official Details: Coinbase and AZTEC Perpetual Futures

Per Coin base's notice, trading for AZTEC-PERP will be suspended on August 17, at or around 13:00 UTC. Key mechanics:

  • Any open positions will be automatically settled at the time of suspension.

  • The final settlement price will be the average index price over the 60 minutes before suspension.

  • The funding rate will be set to zero for the final funding period before settlement.

  • Coinbase reserves the right to suspend trading early or adjust the final settlement price if needed.

Why it's happening: Coinbase's notice doesn't state a specific reason for suspending the AZTEC-PERP contract.

Exchanges commonly pull perpetual futures products over low trading volume, liquidity concerns, or shifting regulatory and risk considerations, though this is not confirmed for AZTEC specifically.

What This Means for Holders and the Market

This week's crypto delisting news splits into two clear to-dos. SOPH holders on the Binance exchange need to move tokens through the old mainnet before August 4; trading itself stays open. AZTEC-PERP traders on Coinbase should close positions before 13:00 UTC on August 17, or they'll be auto-settled at the average index price.

SOPH is already down 22.74% over the past month, trading near $0.00389 with a $7.78 million market cap and $2.82 million in 24-hour volume, per CoinMarketCap. The AZTEC-PERP suspension, by contrast, only affects one derivatives contract on one exchange, so its impact should stay limited to traders holding that position.

Conclusion

This week's crypto delisting news is really two different kinds of change: a mainnet migration for SOPH that leaves trading untouched and a full trading suspension for one Coinbase derivatives contract.

Holders and traders affected by either should rely on the official Binance and Coinbase pages linked above for exact deadlines, since both exchanges reserve the right to adjust timing.
