Gate Update: Stock Event Contracts Debut, Top-3 RWA Perpetuals Volume, And A New Clearing Partnership Signal Gate’s TradFi Ambitions

Gate made several significant moves this week at the intersection of crypto and traditional finance. The exchange became the first platform globally to launch Stock Event Contracts, enabling short-term directional trading on equities — initially covering MU (Micron Technology), SNDK (SanDisk), SKHYNIX (SK Hynix), and Unitree Robotics — with no leverage or margin required. The contracts support 5-minute and 15-minute settlement windows and align trading hours with the relevant equity markets. A 60,000 USDT promotional pool accompanied the launch.

The product expansion arrives as CoinMarketCap’s RWA Perpetuals: State of the Market — August 2026 report confirmed Gate’s dominant position in the rapidly growing RWA derivatives space. Gate ranked third among centralized exchanges globally in August RWA perpetuals volume at $64.8 billion — 2.6x its own July record — and posted 5.3x growth over the June–August period, the fastest among venues clearing more than $5 billion monthly. The exchange also led all tracked platforms in breadth of coverage, listing 405 RWA perpetual assets, ahead of second and third place at 302 and 224. Stocks now account for 52.1% of Gate’s RWA perpetuals volume, with SNDK, SK Hynix, and SpaceX among the most actively traded.

Framing the week’s institutional direction further, Gate announced a strategic partnership exploration with RQD* Clearing, a clearing and custody firm serving broker-dealers, RIAs, and proprietary trading firms. The two parties plan to advance discussions across digital assets, clearing infrastructure, regulatory compliance, and tokenization — a signal of Gate’s intent to build connective tissue between its crypto ecosystem and established financial market infrastructure.

Market Data

Gate continued to post competitive rankings across core spot and derivatives markets. According to CoinGlass data, Gate recorded approximately $314 million in BTC spot trading volume (third globally) and $227 million in ETH spot trading volume (second globally), with ETH futures volume reaching $3.44 billion, also ranking third. The platform maintained strong activity despite BTC and ETH trading slightly lower on the day.

In the meme and onchain token segment, PONS recorded a 24-hour spot trading volume of $28.24 million on Gate, ranking first among centralized exchanges according to CoinGecko. The token, associated with the Robinhood Chain launch platform, accounted for 73.5% of trading volume on that platform, with daily volume reaching a record $756 million, per Gate Ventures’ weekly report. Separately, 牛来 (listed in the Meme section of Gate Trenches) saw its USDT-settled futures open interest reach $2.18 million — placing it in the top three across centralized exchanges — alongside $6.70 million in 24-hour trading volume.

Korean semiconductor-related derivatives remained active. Gate’s SKHX futures open interest reached $157.82 million with $176.50 million in 24-hour trading volume, while SAMSUNG futures open interest reached $9.51 million with $15.80 million in 24-hour volume — both ranking second industry-wide according to CoinGlass.

New Product Launches

Gate continued its product expansion across multiple verticals. Pre-market trading was launched for two GPU rental price index perpetual futures: H100 (NVIDIA H100 GPU Rental Price Index) and B200 (NVIDIA B200 GPU Rental Price Index), both USDT-margined and supporting 1–10x leverage. H100 tracks the standardized average hourly rental cost of NVIDIA H100 compute; B200 covers the newer Blackwell architecture. The products add a novel AI infrastructure exposure layer to Gate’s derivatives offering.

In its Futures Meme and Robinhood sections, Gate added two new perpetual futures: 4STOCK — a meme token tied to the stock-on-chain model introduced by Four.Meme — and ZZZ, a Robinhood on-chain token named after an AI agent that prefixed edits with [ZZZ] to exploit alphabetical task sorting. Both support 1–10x leverage (USDT-settled) and include Trading Bots and Copy Trading functionality.

Gate ETF expanded its lineup with eight new products launched on September 9: 3x long and short tokens covering MINIMAX (MiniMax), CRWV (CoreWeave), AAOI (Applied Optoelectronics), and KORU (Daily MSCI Korea 3x Bull ETF). Gate ETF now supports 420 tokens. An associated trading challenge offers up to 60,000 USDT in rewards, with tiered unlocks based on cumulative platform-wide volume.

Gate also launched U.S. Stock Options, initially covering nine equities including NVIDIA, Tesla, and Apple, with a “U.S. Stock Options Launch Month” campaign featuring weekly first-trade stock rewards and a $24,000 prize pool.

Platform Metrics

Gate’s CFD copy trading business recorded significant momentum. Daily CFD copy trading volume surged 111.0% week-over-week, active copy trading capital rose 64.4% WoW, and the average daily number of new copiers grew 26.1% WoW. The platform also added API Lead Trading support, enabling high-frequency and quantitative traders to connect programmatic strategies directly. Gate Lead Trader Recruitment Program Phase 7 continues through September 30, with a total prize pool of 43,000 USDT and profit sharing of up to 31% for top performers.

Gate Options posted 36.64% month-over-month growth in total trading volume for August, with premium trading volume up 192.83% MoM and retail trading volume rising 27.55%.

Campaigns and Rewards

Gate Event Points Season 4 is live, with the Super Lucky Prize Pool rolling over to $22,082. Accessible via Gate App (v8.32+), participants earn Scratch Cards through eligible Event Contracts trades — one card per 20 USDT in standard markets, or per 10 USDT in designated “2x” events. The parallel “Big 5 Leagues Points Boost Campaign,” running through September 14, offers new-user bonuses and a 15,000 USDT prize pool for users trading Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A, Bundesliga, or Ligue 1 event markets. A key fixture anchoring current market attention is the Round 4 Ligue 1 matchup between Rennes (46% support) and Marseille (30%), kicking off September 11.

Gate CandyDrop Public Airdrop 17.0 runs September 8–23, with users able to share a 20 ETH Super Airdrop by completing Event Market trading and referral tasks. Registered participants can claim up to 0.1 ETH, split across a 15 ETH trading pool and a 5 ETH referral pool.

Gate Futures Points Airdrop Phase 139 launched September 9, offering users holding sufficient Futures Points the ability to claim either 100 USDT position vouchers or 17 PONS, subject to point balance thresholds.

Ecosystem and Commentary

Gate’s prediction market infrastructure took a notable step forward as Gate DexBuilder launched Prediction Builder — a white-label integration layer allowing brokers, Web3 apps, and trading platforms to embed prediction market functionality without building underlying settlement systems. Jason Fung, Gate Head of Global Partnerships, framed the move as a shift toward open infrastructure: the goal is broader application rather than volume metrics alone. A $3 million developer grant program supports early adopters, currently in its first review cycle.

The second episode of the Gate Stocks video series featured Lucas Sum, Head of Market Development for Equities, who addressed why crypto exchanges are moving into stock trading. He highlighted Gate’s approach of giving crypto-native users access to global equities — including pre-market and fractional trading — through existing USDT accounts, rather than displacing traditional brokers.

Gate Europe CEO Dr. Giovanni Cunti published commentary on the evolving liquidity landscape, arguing that capital efficiency and cross-market connectivity are becoming the new definitions of liquidity, and that stablecoins and tokenization are key enablers. He positioned Gate Europe’s MiCA and Payment Institution authorizations as the compliance foundation for participating in this convergence.

Gate Ventures’ weekly recap noted that despite macro volatility — rising oil prices and a U.S. 10-year yield at 4.78% — crypto markets showed relative resilience, with BTC and ETH up 3.4% and 3.8% respectively. Polymarket’s $1 billion raise at a $21 billion valuation was the marquee deal of the week, reflecting continued institutional confidence in prediction market infrastructure.

Finally, ahead of the Mid-Autumn Festival, Gate distributed a limited-edition gift box to select partners and VIP users. Featuring lunar visual elements, picnic accessories, and a nod to crypto’s “To the Moon” culture, the initiative serves as both a seasonal outreach and a branding exercise connecting festive tradition with Gate’s community identity.
