Apple Opens Advanced Manufacturing Center in Houston

Apple opened its Advanced Manufacturing Center inside the Houston facility producing and shipping the company’s advanced artificial intelligence servers. The 20,000-square-foot center will provide free manufacturing training for small and medium-sized businesses across the United States. Apple also plans to begin producing Mac mini computers at the Houston site later this year.

The center gives participating companies access to advanced equipment, interactive laboratories, and manufacturing methods used across Apple’s operations. Training covers final assembly, printed circuit board production, automation, quality control, and manufacturing processes supported by machine learning. Apple engineers will also help businesses identify production problems and adjust manufacturing processes through practical exercises.

Participants can use factory equipment and test production methods inside a representative manufacturing environment at the Houston center. The first business cohort received training in advanced automation, machine-learning quality controls, laser etching, and practical product assembly. Apple plans to expand the program later and provide similar manufacturing instruction for local college students.

Houston Facility Expands Apple’s U.S. Manufacturing Strategy

The Houston center follows Apple’s Manufacturing Academy, which opened in Detroit during August 2025 for American businesses. That program has already supported nearly 1,000 companies seeking stronger manufacturing processes and greater use of artificial intelligence. Its virtual courses also provide training covering automation, production quality, machine learning, and professional development for participating businesses.

Apple has expanded its domestic manufacturing program since announcing a $600 billion United States investment commitment last year. The company and manufacturing partners have invested in custom silicon, advanced components, cover glass, and other American production activities. Apple also shipped its first advanced AI servers from Houston less than one year after selecting the factory location.

The Houston expansion received support from federal, state, county, and city officials attending the facility’s opening event. Officials linked the project with manufacturing skills, local employment, small-business growth, and Houston’s growing role in advanced technology production. The initiative also strengthens Apple’s broader effort to connect domestic production investments with workforce training and manufacturing development.

Mac Mini Production Adds Another Manufacturing Component

Apple plans to add Mac mini manufacturing to Houston later this year, expanding activity beyond advanced AI server production. The move gives the facility a broader role within Apple’s American manufacturing network and strengthens its domestic hardware production strategy. It also connects commercial manufacturing with the training programs operating inside the new Advanced Manufacturing Center.

The company has invested hundreds of millions of dollars into the Houston operation during the past nine months. Apple established the factory, started production, and shipped advanced servers while preparing additional manufacturing capacity at the same location. The combined operation links product manufacturing, technical education, automation training, and business development under one Houston manufacturing site.

Apple continues building its American Manufacturing Program around domestic suppliers, advanced components, workforce development, and new production capacity. The Houston center now adds structured training for businesses seeking practical experience with modern manufacturing equipment and production systems. Its opening strengthens Apple’s U.S. manufacturing push while expanding Houston’s role within the company’s domestic production network.
